WattAgNet: Brazilian egg production breaks records 2014 sees highest egg output since records began23-03-2015
Release Date: 2015-03-23 The country’s egg production reached 2.826 billion dozen in 2014, an increase of 3.1 percent in comparison with 2013. However, this increase was not evenly spread across the country, with the states of Sao Paulo, Espirito Santo and Rio Grande do Sul registering slight increases in egg production, while others, including Goias, Santa Catarina and Amazonas, recorded falls of up to 4.8 percent. Despite record, difficulties hampered egg producers IBGE reports that during the final quarter of the 2014, national egg output contracted by 3.2 percent when compared to the same period of 2013, and was 0.2 percent lower in comparison with the third quarter of 2014. The sector has been boosted by growing egg consumption on the home market, yet while Brazilian egg exports remain small compared to home sales, the sector was affected by difficulties in export markets last year, particularly by restrictions in Africa. |
