PoultryWorld: Ukraine boosts egg exports by over 60%12-03-2026
Last year, Ukraine exported a record 2.05 billion eggs, a 65.6% increase over the previous year, the Ukrainian Union of Poultry Farmers has reported. A decline in egg production in some EU countries due to a series of bird flu outbreaks is the key factor driving the dynamics. In value, Ukraine’s egg exports have almost tripled, reaching US$201.9 million, according to the Union of Poultry Farmers. The lion’s share of Ukraine’s egg exports lands in the European market. For example, last year, Spain accounted for 16.4% of deliveries, the UK for 11.9%, the Czech Republic for 10.3%, Poland for 10%, and Croatia for 8.7%. Among non-European countries, the largest purchaser of Ukrainian eggs was Israel with a 7.8% share in 2025. Value of exports of egg products sees a sharp increaseEgg products exports show mixed dynamics, the Union of Poultry Farmers stated. In 2025, sales to foreign customers reached 8,200 tonnes, climbing by 2.6% compared with the previous year. In value, sales jumped by 40.3% to US$47.8 million. Ukraine strengthens presenceIn 2025, Ukraine strengthened its presence in the Ukrainian egg and egg product market, according to the Union of Poultry Farmers. In total, 73.4% of Ukrainian egg exports and 92.6% of the Ukrainian egg products exports last year ended up in Europe. “A significant reduction in egg production in EU countries due to the challenging epizootic situation over the past year and the need for a long recovery period has led to higher prices on the European market and contributed to increased demand for Ukrainian products,” the Ukrainian Union of Poultry Farmers stated. The Ukrainian egg production sector is gradually recovering after a significant decline in livestock numbers and the loss of production capacity in eastern and southern Ukraine at the beginning of the war. “Due to the significant population decline and its low purchasing power, exports play a decisive role in balancing the domestic market and ensuring the country’s food security,” the Poultry Farmers Association noted. Europe resumes egg imports from Russia? In parallel, the Russian state press reported that Europe has resumed importing eggs from Russia following a nearly 4.5-year break. In December 2025, the Czech Republic purchased eggs worth €64,700 from Russia, Russian state news outlet Ria Novosti reported, citing Eurostat data. As a result, Russia emerged among the top 20 largest egg suppliers to the Czech Republic.
